Hot Topics in Health Law

Course Description:

 This program will provide an overview of the legal and regulatory issues currently shaping the health care industry. The program will focus on enforcement, reimbursement, workforce regulation, technology, and care delivery transformation trends. Topics will include recent fraud and abuse enforcement trends, including False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, telehealth, risk-adjustment, and data-driven enforcement priorities; reimbursement developments affecting providers and health systems; state and federal scope-of-practice considerations; and the expanding legal implications of AI, virtual care and digitally enabled models of care.

Speaker Bio:

 Melissa Mora, Divisional Chief Legal Officer for AdventHealth’s Primary Health Division. Ms. Mora supports the ambulatory, post-acute, and population health settings within a large, integrated health system. Her practice focuses on healthcare regulatory and compliance matters, physician employment, reimbursement, value-based care, and fraud and abuse. She is licensed in Florida and is certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC). She is a member of the Florida Bar, American Health Law Association, Health Law Section of The Florida Bar, and Health Care Compliance Association. Ms. Mora serves on the Board for Goodwill Suncoast. Outside of her professional commitments, Ms. Mora enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons.
