Red Lights and Drivers' Rights: An Update on DUI and Traffic Law

Course Description:

This program will describe how a first time breath test refusal is now a criminal offense and how you could be found not guilty of a DUI, but still be found guilty and face jail for refusing to take a breath test. How that decision could lead to a tumbling effect in happenings with your driver's license and insurance rates. Additionally, relevant updates to the criminal traffic laws and civil traffic infractions will be discussed with tips on how these should be handled by practitioners.

Speaker Bios:

Mike Butash graduated from Stetson University College of Law in 1997. He worked as a prosecutor in New Port Richey for 3 1/2 years before working as in-house counsel for Nationwide Insurance. After leaving Nationwide, he worked for a brief stint for a small firm in Tampa handling PIP Plaintiff, Personal Injury, and Criminal Defense cases before venturing out on his own in 2004 with a primary focus in Criminal Defense. In 2011, he purchased a building in Lutz and a year later formed a partnership with Sean Donovan, Esq. and started the firm Butash & Donovan focusing on Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, and Family Law matters. In 2022, after an amicable split, Mike formed Butash Law Group in the same location where he is focusing on the same areas of practice.
