This program will provide an overview of the United States Attorney's Office and some of its enforcement priorities, with focus on fentanyl prosecutions, ransomware investigations, COVID fraud cases, and efforts to protect the civil rights of servicemembers.
Roger B. Handberg serves as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida. The President nominated Handberg in September 2022, and he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2022. Prior to receiving the presidential nomination, Handberg served as United States Attorney in an interim capacity – appointed by the Attorney General in December 2021 and then by the Chief Judge in April 2022.
Handberg joined the office in 2002. He is a career prosecutor who has served in various senior positions within the office. Handberg has specialized in the prosecution of public corruption and white collar crime cases, with more than $500 million in successful fraud prosecutions.
Prior to joining the office, Handberg served as a Senior Assistant Attorney General at the Florida Attorney General’s Office and as a litigation associate at King & Spalding. Handberg is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and Harvard Law School.
