FEATURED PRESENTATION:

A recent tragic event in St. Petersburg has brought personal protection to the forefront of conversation among Florida lawyers, especially in the Tampa Bay area. Meanwhile, the Florida Legislature has made national news as it has overhauled Florida firearm laws, effective July 1, 2023. In this presentation, Duane Daiker and Jared Krukar will provide a condensed overview of what you need to know in today's legal environment when purchasing, carrying, or becoming proficient with a firearm in compliance with Florida law.

ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

Duane Daiker

Duane Daiker is one of only a handful of board-certified appellate specialists in Florida. He is a recognized leader in the appellate community, and provides expert advice in all areas of appellate representation. Although he has a broad range of commercial and construction litigation experience, Duane’s passion is representing clients in the state and federal appellate courts. He regularly appears in all of Florida’s appellate courts, including the Florida Supreme Court.

Additionally, Duane is a lifelong shooter and a responsibly armed citizen. He has been writing gun, equipment, and training reviews for firearms publications since 2004, including Concealed Carry Magazine and Shooting Illustrated. He has become a serious student of concealed carry, and has trained with some of the best firearms instructors in the country.

Jared Krukar

Jared Krukar is a career staff attorney at the Second District Court of Appeal, and currently the only appellate staff attorney in the State of Florida to be board-certified in appellate practice. Jared is also an adjunct professor at the University of Tampa. Outside of his employment, Jared serves as the President of the North Tampa Bar Association and has various leadership roles within The Florida Bar.

Jared has significant experience in the application of Florida firearm laws and their legislative history. As an attorney with a Florida appellate court, Jared reviews and analyzes both civil and criminal cases involving firearm use and possession, including Florida's Stand-Your-Ground statute. Jared is also a responsible firearm owner who engages in regular training to maintain and improve his proficiency and safety.
