FEATURED PRESENTATION:
Joseline Hardrick will provide a Constitutional Law Update, with a focus on the decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization (most known for overruling Roe v. Wade) and its impact on the weight and consideration of court-created precedent (i.e., stare decisis). She will also provide an overview of upcoming cases before the Supreme Court regarding a variety of issues, including cases that implicate civil rights, attorneys' fees, and other areas of interest to our members.
ABOUT OUR SPEAKER:
Joseline Hardrick is a professor at WMU-Cooley Law School, where she teaches Criminal Law and Constitutional Law and assists graduates with bar preparation. She is also the Florida campus's faculty advisor for the American Constitution Society Cooley Law Student Chapter and the Federal Bar Association, Cooley Law School Student Division. Before working for US District Court Judges Charlene Edwards Honeywell and James S. Moody Jr., Professor Hardrick was a litigation associate with Bush Ross, P.A., in Tampa. She was designated a Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine in 2013 and 2016. She is also a Hillsborough County Bar Association Bar Leadership Institute graduate.
She is the founder and director of Diversity Access Pipeline. Inc., a nonprofit organization that runs the Journey to Esquire® Scholarship & Leadership Program, Blog, and Podcast to promote diversity and create access for law students. The program provides training, mentors, emotional support, and cash scholarships to law students from diverse backgrounds. Journey to Esquire’s mission is to create lawyers, who lead, mentor, and inspire one student at a time. Professor Hardrick received The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division 2019 Diversity Award and the Delano Stewart Award for Diversity from the George Edgecomb Bar Association for her work with Journey to Esquire.
Professor Hardrick serves on the federal Judicial Nominating Conference for the Middle District of Florida, appointed by Congresswoman Kathy Castor, for a four-year term to interview and recommend nominees to President Biden for open positions for US Attorney, US Marshal, and US District Court Judges for the Middle District of Florida.
Professor Hardrick has worked as an exam reader for the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, where she pretested two essay questions, graded over 700 exam answers, and wrote five multiple-choice questions for the bar. She also served as a Guardian ad Litem for the Sixth Judicial Circuit. She served as a board member for Solita’s House Inc., an organization offering first-time homebuyer education classes. She is also a former board member and a current sustaining member of the George Edgecomb Bar Association, the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the Federal Bar Association Tampa Bay Chapter, and the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the Tampa Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society.
