This CLE will explain new and amended statutes that resulted from the May 2022 Special Session that was held to address Florida's "Insurance Crisis," the impacts on those changes to property owners, as well as touch on insurers who have left the state as well as those who have been downgraded, and the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
SPEAKER'S BIOGRAPHY:
Debbie S. Crockett is a shareholder with Cheffy Passidomo, P.A. and concentrates in construction disputes and litigation, insurance coverage, and commercial civil litigation (trial through appeal, in both state and federal courts). She represents policyholders against carriers, with an emphasis in complex issues like denials, claim presentation, risk transfer, and extra-contractual claims. Among her many bar activities, notably, she is the current co-chair of the FL Bar RPPTL Section’s Insurance & Surety Law Committee, co-chair of the ABA RPTE’s Section’s Property, Casualty and Other Non-Title Insurance Committee, chair of the HCBA Construction Law Section, a past co-chair of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Assoc.’s Insurance Law Committee. Debbie served on the FL Bar Civil Procedure Rules Committee and currently teaches FL Civil Procedure as an adjunct professor at WMU Cooley Law School
